Director's Message

Welcome to a new school year filled with opportunities and promise.  Adult Education plays a vital role in the lives of residents in the City of Hayward.

 

“The Hayward Center / Adult School focuses on serving our community members with educational opportunities to improve their lives, as well as, hosting other programs the Hayward Unified School District oversees. Almost all of our classes are “free.”

The Adult School provides courses in the following programs:

 

CTE (Career Technical Education) – many “real-world” job skills are offered, as well as, Certifications.

                         *Including opportunities for Internships and On The Job Training

                         *Computer skills (Microsoft Office, Basic Skills and Computer Repair)
                         *Optometry Office Specialist & General Office Skills
                         *Advanced Technologies, Makerspace & Entrepreneurship

Citizenship Classes – on Saturdays

ESL (English as a Second Language) Classes

Child Care Center: for our students (drop your child off while taking classes at HAS), fee

GED/HSD - GED Test Preparation & High School Diploma Courses

*Our Spanish GED classes are nationally acclaimed, as the Hayward Adult
  School has a very high passing rate.
*Drop-n Computer Lab with 1 to 1 tutoring

Pearson VUE Test Center – GED & Career/Industry Tests

Safety Classes – First Aid & CPR

Youth Enrichment Program

 

                      *Helping Opportunity Youth (16-24) with Educational and Career Goals      

                      *a partnership with Alameda County Workforce Development Board

 

Adults with Disabilities: Job Training program (the “More Mocha Café”)
